Tesco – The Green Supermarket

Out of the 4 big supermarkets in the UK, Eco Your Life has taken a bit of a shine towards Tesco. Everywhere you turn Tesco is publicising and improving its green nature, which is really nice to see from such a market leader. Tesco’s first zero-carbon store By 2050, Tesco aims to be a zero-carbon company, but Tesco has already started to build zero carbon stores. The first zero carbon store was opened in R Read More...

Solar Water Heating

Yes that’s right it’s all to do with the sun again, because that huge fireball in space not only keeps us all alive, it could also be the answer to many of the eco issues we face today! Solar Water Heating is on the agenda this time, also known as Solar Thermal. It’s all about using the heat generated from the sun to produce domestic hot water which we all use for showers, baths and hot taps. The energy Read More...

I first noticed the ECO Shield by PHS in a Urinal in TGI Fridays in Leeds. This little device provides the perfect solution to urinals which are smelly and prone to constantly getting blocked. The eco shield uses the latest in biological block technology, using its Nurazyme bio block and unique one way valve to protect against urinal smells and blockages. How does it work? It works similar to the Read More...

Waterless Urinals

There are three types of waterless urinals, the microbiological, barrier and valve systems. A urinal that is not flushable will soon start to smell and is not practical. On the other hand a urinal that is flushed very often, for example one that is in a public place will use a lot of water as the cistern will constantly be trying to fill up, this type of urinal is very inefficient. The urinal is unlikely to s Read More...

How Solar Works

Put nice and simple Solar Power is the conversion of the suns energy into electrical energy. It all starts with the Photovoltaic’s (PV) panels; these semiconductors capture the suns solar energy to generate a direct current (DC) electricity. Inverters (power conditioners) convert DC in AC (alternating current) to run many common household appliances and equipment. The below illustration shows how this p Read More...

Why Solar Power?

Why should we all be using Solar Power? Well to be honest do we have much choice in the matter? Using sustainable energies is the only way forward if we are going to do our bit as a society to reduce CO² emissions and other harmful pollutants entering the atmosphere, from the burning of fossil fuels for energy. We need to act now if we are to make a difference to our planet and the environment. Nobody would wan Read More...
